CREATIVE CRITICAL REFLECTION 1

  • Our BBFC age rating certificate is a 15 because Extraction is rated a 15 contains threat and violence.
  • Two production logos Hill limitless and Levine Loops come up next. "Hill limitless"  includes an infinity logo moving behind it as for the brand striving to be the best and having limitless restrictions.
  • The establishing shot is a moving medium close up shot which transitions into a extreme close up of a pinboard with images of the girls being stalked in the film opening. The pinboard helps gage the audiences attention as it sets the thrilling mood and emotional rollercoaster we hope to promote in the film opening.
  • From the start we clearly set and fulfilled the thriller genre conventions, this is done by the alarming sound effects which are used to instantly support the visuals to overall create a captivating film opening.
  • Alongside this we deliberately used a range of lighting to create a range of mixed emotions ranging from confusion, fear and excitement.
  • Collectively we used both the sounds, and lighting to assist the sophisticated plot in making the narrative constantly allures the audience watching.
  • We also made sure the plot was easy to follow by showing both of the protagonists early on in the film.  In support of this we have casted the stereotypical teenage girl who wears the mainstream outfit for a girl in her generation. This matched with the agent wearing a simple black suit the whole way through the film this is a clear stereotypical of a government agent we see in the headlining films. Within the film opening the actors names are clearly demonstrated and shown.
  • Sound codes we heavily used in different scenes to create suspense and curiosity for the audience. For example we use a fast paced action soundtrack during the chase which allows the editing to be fast pace and cut to the beat, this clearly creates interest and fulfils the conventions of a chase.
  • Sound code are also used within our film opening as the background sound affects which helps to add layers and and create an more in-depth image for the viewers as keep within the genre conventions of a thriller movie.
  • We have done the credits in a neat and smart format to keep within the suspenseful build-up.
  • The credits clearly present to the audience Millie Levine as the director and myself as the editor.
  • At the end of the film the text appears in a upbeat serious font as we attempt for the name to pop out at the audience as it looses opacity to matches with the loosing of breathe audios behind it.
  • We keep within the Thriller genre conventions as for the constant use of hooks and unique enigma as the audience are kept interested by the catching storyline as at the end their is a cliff hanger of what happens to the girl .
